About LaRue

LaRue has been involved in fitness and health his entire life.  He considers being selected to
help you improve your health and fitness a PRIVILEGE.  It's an opportunity to help you help
yourself, no matter what your fitness goals are, and to make a positive change in your life.  His
training philosophy is that "the trainer and the client are a team," and his goal is to make each
session challenging, yet fun, as you progress towards the goal(s) you've set for yourself.

He began his competitive sports career playing little league baseball.  His participation in this
sport led to consecutive All-City honors, and an offer to play  professionally.

As a young adult, he started playing competitive tennis.  LaRue currently competes in both
sanctioned tournament and league tennis sponsored by the United States Tennis Association
(USTA).  He has competed in tournaments throughout the United States, and has successfully
competed in, and won, dozens of tournaments and league championships.  LaRue has received
the following Rankings Honors from the USTA for his tournament play in the Mid-Atlantic (VA,
MD, DC, and WV) Section, and the State of Virginia:

  • 2001 #4 Mixed Doubles Open Division (Mid-Atlantic)
  • 2001 #9 Mixed Double Open Division (Virginia)
  • 2004 #1 Men's 4.0 Singles (Virginia)

LaRue has been a certified personal trainer since 1993.  During that time, he has successfully
trained a wide variety of clients, including many overweight or obese clients looking to reduce
body fat and inches, the elderly looking to maintain or improve their strength for everyday
activities, women looking to regain their former shape and fitness level after pregnancy, children
needing to add exercise to their daily way of life to stave-off childhood obesity, and "normal
people" who need to establish a healthier lifestyle by including regular enhance in their daily
lives.

LaRue continues to work with a variety of athletes (both male and female) as well.  He has
worked extensively with female athletes, and that part of his practice is particularly satisfying to
him.  LaRue has trained some of the nation's top USTA ranked junior players, adult tournament
and league tennis players, beginners new to tennis, and athletes from a myriad of other sports,
including volleyball, running, football, baseball, hockey, fast-pitch softball, basketball, and
fencing .

Although LaRue gets particular satisfaction from working with those new to exercise and fitness,
he enjoys working with each of his clients, no matter their current fitness level or goals.  He
treats each client individually, and understands that each client's personality and motivations
makes them a unique individual, deserving of a unique fitness program designed specifically for
them.  LaRue clients come with a
variety of health and fitness goals, and his enthusiasm and
